Detecting Lies (ARTICLES)
It has always fascinated me how
criminal investigators could detect a person who is telling a lie. For one, I’m a very trusting person and would
definitely feel guilty whenever I suspect one of my fellow human beings might
be lying to me, and would prefer not to
be judgemental. I could tell anyway,
that this thinking of mine led me to small encounters where I ended up the
victim. And a little looking into here
and there brought me to share this blog with my readers. This is even used by judges and jury analysts
to detect lies during interrogation.
Upon realization, this bit of
general knowledge might definitely save us from being a victim of fraud. Looks are deceiving so better be armed with a
little knowledge than fall prey to an attractive stranger. Some people are naturally sensitive to
certain expressions but we can train ourselves over time and detect some forms
of micro-expressions, as lie detectors call them. However, you must learn how to interpret
almost unnoticeable facial and bodily expressions.
A lying person will show an
expression of distress, with the eyebrows drawn upwards, towards the middle of
the forehead, causing short lines to appear across the skin of the
forehead. Most of the time, a lying
person will touch his or her nose more often.
Experts say that stress could cause adrenaline to rush to the
capillaries of the nose so that it becomes itchy. A lying person will also tend to cover his
mouth with a hand or place the hands near the mouth, as if covering the lies
that might come out from them.
Eye movements will also tell if a
person is remembering something or making something up. People also blink more rapidly when they are
telling a lie.
