Needs (ARTICLES)
People are born with definitely self-centered nature. This
is nature and we cannot go against it, otherwise, we become less human. This is the reason why babies cry. They’re
asking for comfort. They’re asking for immediate gratification from whatever
causes anxiety to them. Hence, they will do the best they can to address their
instinctive need. Crying.
But it seems unlikely for adults to cry, although human
needs increase and become complicated as they grow older. It is not just milk or ordinary food, but one
which suits his or her lifestyle. It is
not just something to cover one’s body that would constitute a comfortable
clothing. It should also coincide with his or her values orientation, culture,
religion, and beliefs. Shelter should likewise fit a person’s
lifestyle otherwise he could become deviant.
There are communities that give high regard for ownership of land and a
house in it. But modern-day pragmatic
lifestyle scoff at the thought of owning house and lots. Condominiums and Home development buildings
are now regarded by millennial’s as the most practical abode given the
fast-paced lifestyle.
There was also a time in the history of humanity when
education was not a need. By then,
people cared more for having a means of livelihood, mostly by farming and
trading.
Contemporary times prove that education is just as basic as
medicine and food itself. A person’s
value is measured either by his knowledge, and by how he carries himself. Hence the need to prove one is of great value
to others.
This mentality has prompted the present-day person to do his
best for himself, make himself look his best, wear his best, and present himself like a bankable asset for
others. Could it be that the present times encourages narcissistic
behavior? Let’s read my next blog.
